Things are going from bad to worse for the Ager-Hanssen family as they are yet again on the run from legal troubles, only this time, it is Caroline Ager-Hanssen who is under fire as a result of her husband’s crimes. They now face the prospect a three-way battle between Christen, the bailiffs and Caroline.
We have previously reported that Ager-Hanssen had been living off Caroline’s funds whilst he hid in Stockholm. According to media reports, Caroline Ager-Hanssen has also been made personally bankrupt in Norway after failing to pay her substantial debts in Sweden.
We have previously reported her unusual relationship with Ugo Buffa, a man almost sixty years her senior, whom she managed to swindle almost his entire fortune from before his death. His children took her to court and were awarded 78 million Swedish Kroner ($8.45 million) in a landmark Swedish Supreme Court judgement.
As Ager-Hanssen has jurisdiction hopped with her husband, who moves countries continually to avoid court orders and debt. It seems her luck finally run out and the Buffa heirs were able to enforce the order against her in Norway, now valued at 160 million Swedish Kroner ($17.3 million) due to interest and legal costs.
It is also understood that the Stavanger home was raided just before Christmas, with Bailiffs seen removing box after box from the property.
The home had been raided earlier in the year by police and bailiffs, looking for devices and data Ager-Hanssen stole. He fled to Sweden and was subsequently raided in his hotel, where police and bailiffs seized his fake watch collection.
Following the raid against Caroline, she fled the property and her current whereabouts are unknown. According to their landlord, Bjørn Maaseide, they haven’t been paying their rent for several months and despite signing a five-year tenancy in 2024, their tenancy is being terminated on the 31st of January.
With both Ager-Hanssen’s declared bankrupt, their cases are being handled by the same person, Flemming Karlsen, who previously reported Ager-Hanssen to the police over “other criminal offences” he uncovered during his investigation.
Sources have indicated that Ager-Hanssen promised the 26-year-old Caroline that he could hide the stolen Buffa funds for her. Could she perhaps be his biggest victim to date? She might be going over those investment statements with a fine-toothed comb, much in the way Bernie Madoff’s victims did as they realised all the money had gone and the valuations were fabricated.
It seems that wherever the Ager-Hanssen family run, the law eventually catches up with them and now a court-appointed bankruptcy trustee is combing through their entire lives and finances, there may be further legal trouble for them ahead. Would you trust him to look after your money? Tick tock…
